The multi award-winning hit Broadway musical about a group of hopeful auditionees eager to make it into A Chorus Line.
Originally staged on Broadway in 1975, this exciting production at the London Palladium is the first time Michael Bennett’s seminal 1975 US production, which won nine Tony Awards, has been revived in London since it premiered in 1976. Back then, it won the Olivier Award for Best Musical.
A story about theatre, A Chorus Line is set on a bare stage as a group of performers audition for a musical. Under the scrutiny of director Zach and assistant choreographer Larry, the lives and history of the candidates are unveiled as the audition process continues.
This London staging is directed by veteran musical theatre director and choreographer Bob Avian, who worked as Bennett’s co-choreographer on the show’s original production.
A much loved musical, A Chorus Line features music by Marvin Hamlisch, who died in August 2012. Among the famous tunes the composer wrote for the musical are One (Singular Sensation), I Can Do That and Hope I Get It.
WINNER – 2013 Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical (Leigh Zimmerman).
