Actor, director and playwright Colman Domingo presents the UK premiere of A Boy And His Soul, his 2010 play about a boy’s coming of age in 70s and 80s Philadelphia.
Set to a soundtrack of classic soul, smooth R&B and disco, A Boy And His Soul asks where does an individual find soul? Is it from watching your parents sell your childhood home? Uncovering a secret about a crazy relative? Or discovering family documents in the basement of your parents’ house.
Domingo, who appeared in the Broadway production of The Scottsboro Boys, will reprise his role in the Kander and Ebb’s provocative musical when it opens at the Young Vic in October. As a writer, his plays include Wild With Happy, Up Jumped Springtime and Mission Of A Saint.
The production is directed by former Resident Assistant Director at the Donmar Warehouse Titas Halder, whose directing credits include The Dance Of Death for the final Donmar Trafalgar season.
