The world premiere of a brand new show by acclaimed hip hop dance company ZooNation, The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, will play at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Studio Theatre this Christmas.
Following the huge success of the much loved company’s previous productions including Into The Hoods and Some Like It Hop Hop, The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party invites audiences to join Lewis Carroll’s famous characters from classic tale Alice In Wonderland as they indulge in an afternoon of outrageous escapades.
Playing from 6 to 30 December, the new family-friendly show takes inspiration from Carroll’s eccentric tale to tell the story of Ernest, a young psychotherapist who holds a special ‘T for Therapy party’.
With The White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, as well as the Mad Hatter himself in attendance, the party promises to make for fantastical viewing with another dose of ZooNation’s unique raucous style, as well as offering the chance for some audience participation as well.
The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party features choreography by ZooNation’s much acclaimed Artistic Director Kate Prince and a new score by her regular collaborators Josh Cohen and DJ Walde.
Fittingly, the production plays alongside the return of Christopher Wheeldon’s ballet Alice In Wonderland, which will play in the Royal Opera House’s auditorium from 6 December to 10 January. The public will have the chance to catch a live relay of a performance of the popular piece on 16 December when it is streamed to more than 1,000 cinemas in the UK and across the world.
