Wyndham’s transfer for NT/Headlong hit

First Published 19 October 2015, Last Updated 19 October 2015

People, Places And Things, the latest hit London play to be created by Headlong and the National Theatre, will transfer to the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre next spring.

The acclaimed drama, which is currently playing a sold out run at the National’s Dorfman Theatre, will begin its Wyndham’s run on 15 March.

Much lauded leading actor Denise Gough will reprise her performance for the transfer, playing Emma, an actress whose life has spun out of control due to her addiction to drink and drugs.

The drama, written by 1984 co-adaptor Duncan Macmillan, follows Emma as she admits there is a problem and enters rehab. But the problem is not with her, it’s with everything else. She needs to tell the truth, but she’s smart enough to know there’s no such thing. When intoxication feels like the only way to survive, how can she ever sober up?

The production, which was described by Official London Theatre’s Charlotte Marshall as “exhilarating” when it opened at the South Bank venue in September, is directed by Headlong’s Artistic Director Jeremy Herrin.

People, Places And Things opens at the Wyndham’s Theatre following the West End runs of two more acclaimed dramas.

Theatre Royal Bath’s production of dementia-exploring drama The Father, which received multiple five star reviews from the nation’s theatre critics, is currently running at the venue. It plays until 21 November, when it is followed, from 1 December, by Martin McDonagh’s recent Royal Court hit, Hangmen.
