Actors Michael Mears and Orlando Wells will become the latest pair of performers to be scared witless when they join the cast of London’s long-running ghost story The Woman In Black on 6 April.
Mears and Wells replace current cast Julian Forsythe and Christopher Naylor in the spooky tale of a solicitor sent to wind up the affairs of the old, reclusive Alice Drablow. The Woman In Black has been frightening audiences at the Fortune theatre since 1989.
A London stage regular, Mears is currently playing Foxlip in Nation at the National Theatre, where he has also appeared in All’s Well That Ends Well and Harper Regan. Away from the National, his credits include Measure For Measure and The Comedy Of Errors (RSC) and You Never Can Tell.
Wells was most recently seen in the New Orleans-inspired Katrina and also appeared in the West End production of The History Boys and Pirandello’s Henry IV at the Donmar Warehouse.
The Woman In Black, which is based on a short novel by Susan Hill, started life at Scarborough’s Theatre-By-The-Sea in 1987, making the leap to London two years later.
