This month, London’s spookiest show is set to celebrate its 12,000th performance! The Woman In Black will be staging its momentous achievement on Saturday 22 September 2018 at The Fortune Theatre, London.
Producer Peter Wilson said today, “To have achieved 12,000 performances may not be unique, but it is remarkable. Susan Hill’s great story allied to Robin Herford’s carefully inspired direction of Stephen Mallatratt’s brilliant adaptation have kept the show fresh, exciting – and constantly in demand. I’m grateful to them all, and to the extraordinary casts and crews that have kept The Fortune Theatre busy for so long.”
In addition to a huge number of performances, The Woman In Black will also be celebrating its 30th anniversary in June next year.
The Woman In Black is set on the eerie, isolated Eel Marsh House where a young Arthur Kipps arrives, unaware of the tragedy lurking in the house’s dark corners. When he catches a glimpse of a wasted young woman dressed completely in black, Kipps tries to discover more about her, but the locals turn silent and he must unearth her secret on his own.
The West End’s favourite ghost story currently stars Richard Hope as ‘Arthur Kipps’ and Mark Hawkins as ‘The Actor’.
