Following a killer first year at London County Hall, the hit revival of Agatha Christie’s Witness For The Prosecution has revealed a new cast and extension period.
Performed in a unique courtroom setting, murder drama Witness For The Prosecution thrillingly places the audience into the heart of the action – and will continue to do so, as it is now booking until 1 September 2019.
And from 20 November, the show will star Daniel Solbe as the accused Leonard Vole, with Emma Rigby (formerly of Hollyoaks) as his wife Romaine Vole, Jasper Britton as Sir Wilfrid Robarts, William Chubb as Mr Myers QC, Christopher Ravenscroft as Mr Justice Wainwright and Ewan Stewart as Mr Mayhew.
The new cast will be completed by Richard Banks, Chloé Booyens, Joanna Brookes, Miriam Cooper, Liam Lau Fernandez, Phoebe Marshall, Hugh Osborne, Simon Roberts, Leo Turner and Jamie Zubairi.
Witness For The Prosecution has enjoyed a storming first year in London, having been nominated for Best Revival at this year’s Olivier Awards with Mastercards ceremony. The show has also welcomed in celebrity guests such as Holly Willoughby, Jeremy Vine, Tess Daly, Isla Fisher, Kelly Homes and Ian McKellen.
The announcement even joked that “[director] Lucy Bailey’s production is well placed in the race to become Agatha Christie’s longest-running play, with The Mousetrap a mere 65 years ahead at this stage.”
Leonard Vole is accused of murdering a widow, Emily French, to inherit her wealth. The stakes are high. Will Leonard survive the shocking witness testimony, which sees accusations levelled from where he least expected them? Will he be able to convince the jury of his innocence? Can he escape the ultimate fate: the hangman’s noose?
