British film star Jaime Winstone is to return to the London stage in February when she stars opposite Being Human’s Russell Tovey in new play Sex With A Stranger.
The drama, which also stars Naomi Sheldon, runs at the Trafalgar Studio 2 from 1 to 25 February.
Written by Stefan Golaszewski, who also writes hit BBC3 sitcom Him And Her in which Tovey stars, Sex With A Stranger is the story of Adam, a man stuck in a rut and kept on a tight leash by his girlfriend. A friend’s birthday offers him the opportunity of a night out by himself, but a chance meeting in a nightclub tests his resolve.
Winstone, daughter of actor Ray Winstone, is best known for screen performances in TV series including Dead Set and Five Daughters, and films such as Made In Dagenham and Donkey Punch.
Tovey, who has been acting professionally since appearing in mid-90s CBBC series Mud when he was barely a teenager, has already amassed an impressive CV, which ranges from guest star appearances in Doctor Who to BBC Dickens adaptation Little Dorrit and starring as one of the original cast of The History Boys. In 2012 he will take another guest star role in the eagerly anticipated second series of Sherlock.
Sheldon, the least well known of the trio, has stage credits including Daisy Pulls It Off at the Lyric Hammersmith and Reclining Nude With Black Stockings at the Arcola.
Sex With A Stranger runs at the Trafalgar Studio 2 following the Donmar Trafalgar season, which includes current show Dublin Carol and Huis Clos, which opens in the new year.
