The always popular Wicked Young Writer Awards has extended the deadline for submissions from budding young authors to 25 March, adding an extra two weeks for young people aged five to 25-years-old to get writing.
Judges including How To Train Your Dragon’s Cressida Cowell will have the task of deciding winners from six age categories, including the brand new category for 2016, the For Good Award for Non-Fiction, which encourages 15 to 25-year-olds to write essays or articles that recognise the positive impact that people can have on each other, their communities and the world we live in.
The award, which boasts Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall as a patron, has been running for six years and encourages young people to take inspiration from the hugely popular musical that started life as a novel to get creative and put pen to paper to create their own literary inventions, whether they be fact or fiction.
A shortlist of 120 entrants from across the UK will have their work published in the Wicked Young Writer Awards Anthology as well as being invited to an exclusive ceremony at the popular musical’s home at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where members of the Wicked cast will join the judges in announcing the overall winner of each category.
