Leicester Square will be alive with The Sound Of Music, among other things, at this weekend’s West End Live event. The free annual showcase for the cream of London’s shows takes place on the 23 and 24 June, with performances from the casts of Dirty Dancing, The Lord Of The Rings, Wicked, Avenue Q, Chicago, Mamma Mia, Stomp, Little Shop Of Horrors, Fame and of course, The Sound Of Music.
There will also be performances on the main stage from the Sylvia Young Theatre School, a Bollywood showcase performance, urban dance and hip-hop from Zoo Nation, classical music from electric string group String Fever, Japanese pop performance group Frank Chickens and singing from the London Gay Men’s Chorus.
Kids Week, which takes place in August, will be represented at the event, with the 30 winners of the recent Kids Week Fame Factor workshop singing the title track from Fame at 13:50 on Saturday. There will also be a Kids Week tent.
In addition to all this, on Saturday there are workshops and activities for all the family, including stage combat, puppet making, animation, a classic car display, plus the chance to be a Bollywood film star, try on real armour, be a spy or practise your circus skills.
