The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time opened at the National Theatre back in 2012. 4 years on, the show, currently playing at the Gielgud Theatre, continues to move audiences with its heart-warming story and stunning theatricality. Recently refreshed with a host of new cast members, we thought it was high time to revisit the production and learn more about the success of the much-loved show.
Mark Haddon, the author, Simon Stephens, the playwright, Joseph Ayre, playing Christopher Boone, and Jo Castleton, playing Siobhan, talk to us about their favourite moments in the show and how Christopher has changed them.
The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time is the story of Christopher, a 15 year old boy who becomes a suspect when Mrs Shears’ dog, Wellington, is speared with a garden fork.
Though exceptional at maths, Christopher cannot interpret everyday life. He has never passed the end of the road by himself, he hates to be touched and he doesn’t trust strangers. Yet he embarks on a mission to discover the truth about Wellington’s untimely death, recording everything in a notebook. His detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey as he tries to solve The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time.
