Kinky Boots, the hit musical, has finally arrived in London’s West End, complete with fabulous footwear, a cracking British cast and a feel-good factor that even the soggy start to the autumn can’t dampen.
The tale of an audacious attempt to save a failing shoe factory by manufacturing killer boots for drag queens, which is layered with love stories of all kinds – paternal, fraternal, sexual – strutted its sexy stuff at its West End press night this week, for an audience almost as glamorous as the striking performers on stage.
As the drinks – prosecco or Campari cocktails, since you ask – flowed at the after show party, we caught up with the show’s songwriter Cyndi Lauper and book writer Harvey Fierstein, along with stars Killian Donnelly, Matt Henry, Amy Ross and Jamie Baughan. See what they had to say in the video above.
