Next month will see the West End premiere of Broadway hit Disney’s Aladdin at the Prince Edward Theatre and rehearsals are now in full swing.
Last week we heard from its leading man Dean-John Wilson on how he feels about taking on the iconic role, and now it’s the turn of the West End’s very own Disney Princess-in-waiting, Jade Ewen.
The former Sugababe and In The Heights star will take on the enviable role of Princess Jasmine, so it’s lucky A Whole New World is her favourite song… She revealed that, plus how she feels to be heading back to the world of Disney following her childhood role in The Lion King, in the video above.
In case anyone needs a quick reminder, Disney’s Aladdin tells the story tells the story of a savvy street urchin who becomes embroiled in the plans of an evil wizard. Finding himself with an all-powerful genie as a friend, a whole new world of possibilities opens up before him.
Ewen and her forthcoming on stage love interest Wilson will be joined in the cast by former Broadway Genie Trevor Dion Nicholas, and West End regulars Don Gallagher and Peter Howe as the nefarious Jafar and Iago.
Disney’s Aladdin plays from 27 May and is booking at the Prince Edward Theatre to 1 October 2016. You can book tickets through us here.
