Rehearsals are in full swing for the London premiere of Disney’s Aladdin and it is just over one month until the hit musical takes to the stage of the Prince Edward Theatre for the first time.
What better time, then, for musical theatre star and the capital’s Aladdin, Dean-John Wilson, to record a video talking about his history with the award-winning film, his excitement at singing for composer Alan Menken, the show’s incredible designs and his co-star Jade Ewen.
The video also offers a chance to hear Wilson, who was last on the London stage in Miss Atomic Bomb, singing Proud Of Your Boy, one of Menken’s songs that wasn’t used in the film, and the Disney classic A Whole New World.
Disney’s Aladdin, which begins its West End run on 27 May, tells the story of a savvy street urchin who becomes embroiled in the plans of an evil wizard. Finding himself with an all-powerful genie as a friend, a whole new world of possibilities opens up before him.
Wilson and Ewen are joined in the cast by former Broadway Genie Trevor Dion Nicholas, and West End regulars Don Gallagher and Peter Howe as the nefarious Jafar and Iago.
Disney’s Aladdin is booking at the Prince Edward Theatre to 1 October 2016. You can book tickets through us here.
