Esteemed actress Vanessa Redgrave will lead the cast of the Young Vic‘s world premiere production of The Inheritance this Spring, in a cast which also features Tony Award-winner John Benjamin Hickey and Poldark star Kyle Soller.
Redgrave, who is an Oscar, Emmy, Tony, BAFTA and Olivier Award-winner for her work on the stage and screen, will play the role of Margaret in Matthew Lopez’s new play about gay life in modern day New York City.
Set a generation after the height of the AIDS crisis, The Inheritance gives a panoramic view of the fears of the gay community. It questions what has survived of those fears, that activism, and the new communities and kinds of isolation, and explores what the experience of the plague years mean to the young.
Hickey, who won the 2011 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for his performance as Felix Turner in The Normal Heart, will play Henry, while Soller will portray Eric. The cast also features Andrew Burnap as Toby and Samuel H. Levine as Adam/Leo.
The Inheritance casting is completed by Hugo Bolton, Robert Boulter, Hubert Burton, Syrus Lower, Michael Marcus, Luke Thallon and Michael Walters.
Directed by the acclaimed Stephen Daldry, the show is presented in two parts at the Young Vic, with extra performances added due to demand. The production will now play between Friday 2 March – Saturday 19 May 2018.
Tickets for The Inheritance can be booked via the Young Vic website.
