Our House, the Olivier Award-winning musical featuring the songs of hit 80s band Madness, is to be revived by the Union Theatre this summer.
The Tim Firth-penned show will run at the London venue from 19 August to 12 September.
Steven France, who previously appeared in Anna Nicole The Opera at the Royal Opera House and Spring Storm at the National Theatre, leads the cast as Joe Casey, a Camden lad whose life is strikingly altered by a decision made on the night of his 16th birthday.
In an attempt to impress the girl of his dreams he breaks into a building development overlooking his home, but when the police arrive he has a choice to make and his life splits in two. Good Joe gives himself up, while Bad Joe scarpers leaving the dream girl, Sarah, to run from the police.
Using Madness’ hit songs, including My Girl, Baggy Trousers, House Of Fun and It Must Be Love, the show follows the two Joes through seven years of alternate lives.
France is joined in the cast by recent Guildford School of Acting graduate Ailsa Davidson as Sarah and Dominic Brewer, who recently appeared in the acclaimed Shakespeare’s Globe productions of Twlefth Night and Richard III, as Joe’s Dad.
Michael Burgen, who played Patsy in Spamalot and directed Loserville at the Union Theatre earlier this year, directs.
