The critically acclaimed comedy Posh is returning to theatres across the UK, with actor Tyger Drew-Honey making his stage debut in the role of Alistair Ryle.
Known for his role as Jake in the award-winning BBC show, Outnumbered, Tyger has also hosted several BBC documentaries, and starred in a range of TV programmes, including Scream Street, Citizen Khan, Death in Paradise and Midsomer Murders. He has also recently finished filming as Jon Craven on feature film, Me, Myself, and Di. Further casting of the show is to be announced.
Posh charts a night of debauchery, indulgence and violence amongst members of ‘The Riot Club’, a private gentleman’s dining society.
Returning to the stage once more, the Riot Club is back, but on one condition. They must behave. After the mishaps at their last dinner, their President has promised its ex-members not to bring the club back into public disrepute. But as the booze flows and the mood turns sour, will the brotherhood prevail or will the lawyers of those with the deepest pockets preserve these bright young men’s futures?
Written by Olivier Award winner Laura Wade (who recently won the Best New Comedy Olivier for Home I’m Darling), the show has punchy dark humour and provocative political themes.
More recently, this popular play has been adapted into a film starring Max Irons, Sam Claflin, Natalie Dormer and Tom Hollander.
Playwright Laura Wade said: “Power, privilege and entitlement are as much in the news now as they were when Posh was first performed, so it feels like a good time to bring the boys back to the table.”
Posh will commence a UK tour from 3 September until 26 October 2019. The tour dates are:
- Oxford Playhouse (3 – 7 September)
- Cambridge Arts Theatre (17 – 21 September)
- Bath Theatre Royal (23 – 28 September)
- Rose Theatre Kingston (15 – 19 October)
- Theatr Clwyd (23 – 26 October)
