Lily Bevan’s black comedy Celebrity Night At Café Red will make its debut at Trafalgar Studios 2 later this month.
The writer, director and performer, who was last at the bijou venue with Stephen And The Sexy Partridge, will present her latest comic offering about the “Frenchest” restaurant in town from 20 September.
With plastic onions, checked tablecloths and rustic provincial paraphernalia to prove its Gallic authenticity, Café Red is in for a change when visiting celebrity chef extraordinaire Roly Ryan shows up to whisk up trouble. But how can he know that his diners have also brought their own unusual ingredients to the table?
Bevan will both direct and star in the production alongside Dominic Burdess (TV’s Dead Ringers), Alys Metcalf (Oranges On The Brighton Line at the Old Vic Tunnels), Mike Wozniak (Comedy Rush at the Shaftesbury theatre), Jeany Spark (Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? at the Crucible theatre), Lorna Beckett (Stephen And The Sexy Partridge), Victoria Lloyd (Filumena at the Almeida theatre), James Rastall (TV’s Marchlands), recent graduate Sarah Lambie and Leo Staar (After The Dance and Hamlet at the National Theatre).
Celebrity Night At Café Red plays until 6 October in rep with the previously announced revival of Kelly Burke’s Zelda.
