Official London Theatre can exclusively reveal that Top Hat fans now have the chance to put on their White Tie And Tails and enjoy a preview of the eagerly awaited forthcoming cast album recording of the acclaimed show ahead of the album’s official release later this month.
While musical appreciators who can’t get down to the Aldwych theatre in person will have to wait until 27 August to get their hands on the full album, from today you can listen to 30 second clips of each track from the glamorous production above via the trailer tab or via the production’s official Facebook page.
The new cast album features all the songs from the popular 1930s musical, which is based on Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers’ classic film and opened earlier this year at the Aldwych theatre. With music by the legendary Irving Berlin, Top Hat includes classics such as Let’s Face The Music And Dance, Cheek To Cheek and Top Hat, White Tie And Tails.
The album features vocals from all the stars of the stage production including the leading pair, Tom Chambers, who plays the irrepressible Broadway sensation Jerry Travers, and Summer Strallen, as his love interest and society model Dale Tremont.
While Chambers may be a newcomer to the West End stage, Strallen is a triple Olivier Award nominee who has starred in productions including Love Never Dies, The Sound Of Music and The Drowsy Chaperone. Chambers made his professional musical debut in the production following his winning appearance on the BBC’s 2008 series of Strictly Come Dancing where he wowed audiences with his flawless footwork.
