Hergé’s Adventures Of Tintin, Rufus Norris’s stage show featuring the famous comic book hero, has reduced its run at the Playhouse. After opening on 12 December, it will now run until 12 January rather than the original date of 23 February. Meanwhile, Footloose, currently occupying the Playhouse until 1 December, has confirmed it will not, as previously thought, return there following Tintin’s departure.
Hergé’s Adventures Of Tintin, adapted by Norris and David Greig from the children’s comic book Tintin In Tibet, follows the famously bequiffed hero, his loyal dog Snowy and the curmudgeonly Captain Haddock as they try to rescue their friend Chang, who is lost in the Himalayas after a plane crash. First seen at the Barbican in 2005, the show’s return to London coincides with the centenary year of Tintin’s creator Hergé. The production is currently on a national tour prior to its Christmas season at the Playhouse.
Footloose, the high-energy stage musical based on the film of the same name, has occupied the Playhouse since August, following a successful West End run at the Novello last year. Plans for the musical following its departure from the Playhouse now include a European and UK tour and a return to the West End late next year. CB
