David Wood’s adaptation of Judith Kerr’s much-loved The Tiger Who Came To Tea is to make its West End debut this summer at the Vaudeville theatre.
The Tiger Who Came To Tea, which runs from 6 July to 4 September, is designed to introduce children from the age of three to the world of theatre with a magical, musical experience packed full of audience participation.
The Tiger Who Came To Tea is based on the award-winning picture book that was first published in 1968 and has since sold over four million copies. Kerr’s famous tale tells the story of Sophie whose afternoon tea with her mother is unexpectedly interrupted by a mischievous stripy tiger.
As well as adapting the story for stage, with new songs to bring the chaotic tale to life, Wood also directs the show. A renowned children’s playwright, Wood has written over 70 plays for children including Chichester Festival Theatre’s recent stage adaptation of Goodnight Mister Tom, the current tour of Shaun The Sheep and numerous Roald Dahl plays including the production of George’s Marvellous Medicine recently seen at the Bloomsbury Theatre.
Wood can also be seen at the Arts theatre this Easter with his family show David Wood’s Story Time. The writer and expert story-teller will be re-enacting his book The Gingerbread Man, as well as reading other stories including Funny Bunny’s Magic Show.
