Michael Jackson fans will be thrilled to hear that the West End’s musical concert celebration of the late iconic pop star, Thriller Live, has extended its run at the Lyric theatre and will continue moonwalking across the West End stage until 28 September 2014.
Featuring more than two hours of Jackson’s most-loved classics and charting his career from his early years as part of The Jackson Five, with songs including I Want You Back and ABC, right through to his later hits They Don’t care About Us and Earth Song, Thriller Live features a company of dancers, singers and talented youngsters who recreate on stage his unique style that earned him the undisputed title King of Pop.
Now in its fifth year at the Lyric theatre, more than one million people have enjoyed the world of Jackson’s extraordinary talent brought to life in the show created by Adrian Grant, Jackson’s long-time associate. On 24 October the production, which recently embarked on a major tour of the UK and Ireland, and has been seen in 26 countries around the globe, will celebrate its 2000th West End performance.
Billed as a “constantly evolving” production, new choreography and additional songs are frequently added to the show to keep it fresh after its half a decade tenure, alongside new visuals for the show’s dazzling video footage of Jackson and his award-winning talent in action.
Following the star’s untimely death, the Lyric theatre’s foyer is now also home to permanent memorial to Jackson, with fans of the legend flocking to the West End to witness Jackson’s legacy on stage.
