Theatregoers planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve by taking in a performance on the afternoon or evening of 31 December are being advised to check before they travel.
Transport For London is advising visitors to central London to consult www.london.gov.uk/newyearseve before setting out to plan their journey and take into account any road closures due to the evening’s festivities. Areas designated for viewing the fireworks – which includes much of Victoria Embankment – are expected to become busy by 20:00 and will be closed when capacity is reached.
For those planning to continue their New Year celebrations in central London after curtain down, the Mayor is supporting free travel across all Transport for London services from 23:45 on 31 December to 04:30 on 1 January.
West End shows staging performances on the afternoon or evening of 31 December include Dreamboats And Petticoats, Bill Bailey Dandelion Mind, When We Are Married, The Country Girl, Blood Brothers, Jersey Boys, Chicago, Flashdance The Musical, Stomp and Les Misérables.
