Our countrywide theatre gift voucher scheme Theatre Tokens has launched an innovative new app making it easy to give the gift of theatre through social media and online.
The new partnership with Swedish social gifting service Wrapp allows friends and family to give Theatre Tokens via smartphones, Facebook and online. They can be redeemed, as all Theatre Tokens can, at the tkts ticket booth in Leicester Square, but using Wrapp Theatre Tokens is as easy as showing your smartphone.
The new Wrapp Theatre Tokens app also makes it even easier for more than one person to contribute to a gift, as many friends can give to one gift card through Facebook.
This social app is the latest innovation from Theatre Tokens, which has been helping people give the gift of theatre since 1984. Last year, the UK scheme, which is run by the Society of London Theatre, enjoyed sales of nearly £10 million. This is extremely good news for the theatre industry, not just because it reflects how popular a trip to the theatre still is even in troubled economic times, but also as all profits generated by Theatre Tokens are reinvested into the theatre industry to help support its future.
Theatre Tokens are among a group of high profile companies and schemes in the UK to join the Wrapp app. Among the others are leading gym Fitness First, Italian restaurant chain Pizza Express and the UK’s largest independent online fashion and beauty retailer ASOS.
