In this week’s episode of Theatre Chat Live, Frankie talks to Lizzie Dewar from The Tiger Who Came To Tea playing at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and celebrity vocal coach Annabel Williams.
Frankie talks about how exciting it is that theatres can now open at a full capacity and that audiences can check out the current safety guidelines on our See It Safely page, here. She talks to some of our followers about what shows they’ve been seeing recently and it seems there’s a lot of theatregoing, which we love to hear!
Lizzie Dewar who plays Mummy in the iconic family-friendly show, The Tiger Who Came To Tea, tells Frankie about her journey into theatre having started her career as a dancer. When she realised she can’t live without being on stage, she dipped into theatre and education which landed her the audition for The Tiger Who Came To Tea! As they say, the rest is history…
She explains that the Olivier Award-nominated show is directly inspired by the beloved classic picture book written by Judith Kerr OBE. While the costumes stay in line with that in the book, the stage production comes with lots of singing, dancing and participation from audience members. Children are taken on the same exciting journey as the book but this time with plenty of interactive fun.
The second guest of the day is Annabel Williams who is the Head Vocal Coach on Britain’s Got Talent, X-Factor, and I Can See Your Voice. Her journey started with coaching big bands following onto performing as a backing singer. She then landed her role on X-Factor. She talks to Frankie about her experience working on three TV shows from the comfort of her home over the past year as well as launching an app called The Vocal Coach App which has been recognised as the number 1 vocal coach app in the world! Annabel also gives some helpful advice on how you can get into the industry if you’re an aspiring vocal coach.
