In this weeks episode of Theatre Chat Live, Jess talks to Olivier Award nominee French-Canadian stage and screen star Audrey Brisson and Chris Jared who are starring in Amélie The Musical and Tony Jayawardena from Kiln Theatre’s The Invisible Hand.
The Olivier Award-nominated Amélie The Musical is based on the five-time Academy Award-nominated film and follows the whimsical world of a young lady named Amelie.
Audrey and Chris, who star in the lead roles as Amélie Poulain and Nino, talk to Jess about what a treat it is to return #BackOnStage and how emotional it’s been. They also discuss how the musical differs from the film as well as an in-depth chat all about the surreal and quirky choreography based on an exaggerated/enhanced movement that was created intentionally for each particular character.
If you’re looking for something light-hearted and inspiring to see with the family this summer, you’ll be pleased to know that you can grab half-price tickets for Amélie The Musical in our Kids Week offer.
This week’s second guest is Tony Jayawardena who is currently playing Imam Saleem in The Invisible Hand at the Kiln Theatre. Tony has starred in various West End shows including Christmas at the Snow Globe (Shakespeare’s Globe), Twelfth Night (Shakespeare’s Globe), Bend It Like Beckham (Phoenix Theatre) Love and Stuff (Theatre Royal Stratford East) and more!
Tony tells Jess about his route into theatre and all about The Invisible Hand, a story about an American banker who knows that his freedom comes at a price. Confined to a cell in rural Pakistan, every second counts. Who will decide his fate? His captors, or the whims of the market? The “fun and punchy” show will be playing at Kiln Theatre until 31 July, so be sure to check it out.
