West End star Liam Tamne (pictured above with former Les Misérables co-star Craig Mather), who hit the headlines when he swapped the stage for the TV studio for BBC talent show The Voice, will return to the West End in September as he joins The Phantom Of The Opera.
Fan favourite Tamne, who previously appeared in London productions of Les Misérables, Hair, Hairspray and Wicked, will play Raoul in the hit London musical.
Argentinian performer Gerónimo Rauch will continue as the Phantom, with Andy Hockley and Martin Ball also staying in the roles of Monsieur Firmin and Monsieur Andre.
John Ellis, who played opera singer Piangi in the German production of the Das Phantom Der Opera, joins as part of the 1 September cast change. He will recreate his German performance on the London stage, making his West End debut.
The cast change also marks West End debuts for ballerina turned musical theatre performer Alicia Beck, who will play Meg Giry, and Emmi Christensson, who will be the alternate Christine to Harriet Jones.
The Phantom Of The Opera tells the story of a masked maniac who haunts the Paris Opera House. When he falls in love with ingénue Christine Daaé, his obsession turns him from friend to a frightened and murderous monster.
The production, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and choreographed by Gillian Lynne, who also worked together on Cats, first opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre in 1986.
