Families should expect more scary fun in the West End this Christmas as The Gruffalo travels on his turned-out toes all the way to London’s Vaudeville Theatre.
Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s poisonous wart-wearing woodland dweller will return from 15 December until 3 January following its 10-week summer season.
Tall Stories’ now iconic musical adaptation of the much-loved picture book follows Mouse’s daring adventure in the deep dark wood. In her search for a nut, she encounters all sorts of wily creatures that she must outwit – with a little help from The Gruffalo – to avoid becoming their next meal.
While the Gruffalo has been played by a whopping 17 different actors since its 2001 premiere, Owen Guerin will return to play the fearsome title character alongside Ellie Bell and Timothy Richey, both of whom performed with Guerin during the show’s recent summer run at the Lyric Theatre.
The Gruffalo is the latest family show announced for the West End this Christmas, with fellow family-friendly hits The Tiger Who Came To Tea, Goodnight Mister Tom and Peppa Pig’s Surprise all set to entertain audiences over the festive period.
