Matthew Baldwin and Thomas Hescott’s acclaimed cabaret-style production The Act will transfer to the Trafalgar Studios for a limited five week season next month following two successful runs at Ovalhouse.
The production, which plays from 25 February to 29 March in the venue’s intimate Studio 2, is set in 1960s London as the men in suits at Westminster are putting the finishing touches to the freedoms we take for granted and the men in Soho bars are putting the finishing touches to their hairdos.
Performed by Baldwin and directed by Hescott, the piece explores the life of Matthew, a civil servant with a big heart and an even bigger secret who is caught between the two very different worlds.
Featuring personal anecdotes, verbatim House of Commons speeches and music, the production will open at the Trafalgar Studio 2 following Luke Kempner’s one-man show The Only Way Is Downton, which brings characters from the ITV period drama and modern celebrities to the capital from 27 January to 22 February.
