In our profile series, Tell Us In 10, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. From how their castmates would describe them and alternative careers, to their Theatreland idols, we want to know it all!
This week, we hear from Jonathon Bentley, who is currently playing Private Robert E. Lee Prewitt in From Here To Eternity.
Find out more about Jonathon and his career so far below:
1. My route into theatre was…
Quite late, in comparison. I started performing at school but nothing serious at the time. Then a started doing shows in my local area and attended 3 amateur dramatics companies whilst at Musical Theatre College from 16-18. Applied for drama school after that but deferred a place up north because I wanted to aim higher for the London schools. Auditioned again and was offered a place at Mountview when I was 21. Graduated Mountview in 2016 with a BA Hons and made my West end debut only a few weeks later in Mamma Mia!
2. My West End idol is…
Ramon Karimloo & Danny Mac
3. My colleagues would describe me as…
Reliable, Driven & Kindhearted
4. My favourite show present or past (that isn’t one I star in) is…
5. The career moment I’m most proud of is…
Making my west end Debut in 2016
6. The hardest part about my role is…
Staying fit & healthy
7. If I didn’t work in theatre I would be…
A Police Officer
8. Something people don’t know about me is…
I have very flexible/retractable shoulder blades
9. The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…
Leave everything in the audition room, because if you don’t get the recall or job offer that you hoped for, you know you did the best you could.
10. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…
Take care of YOURSELF
