The Tap Pack swings back into West End

Robin Johnson

By Robin Johnson Published 15 March 2018

West End audiences can expect slick suits, even slicker songs, and sharp wit as The Tap Pack brings exhilarating dance to the timeless music and style of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr this summer.

Inspired by the kings of swing, The Tap Pack offer a unique brand of pure entertainment, tapping along to tunes ranging from Frank Sinatra to Ed Sheeran, accompanied by a live four-piece band.

The Tap Pack consists of performers Jesse Rasmussen, Thomas J. Egan, Sean Mulligan, Max Patterson and Ben Brown. The high-energy tap comedy show was created by Jesse Rasmussen, Jordan Pollard and Thomas J. Egan, and co-created and directed by Nigel Turner-Carroll, touring to Beijing, Berlin, and London’s South Bank. It won The Spirit of the Fringe Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2016.

Rasmussen’s credits include the films Happy Feet and Happy Feet 2 alongside Savion Glover, while Egan has worked as a commercial dancer in Sydney with artists including Kylie Minogue, and appeared in the film The Great Gatsby. Brown has appeared in numerous West End musicals including Monty Python’s Spamalot and Wicked; Mulligan has appeared in Jersey Boys and Grease; and Patterson has performed in musicals in Melbourne including Funny Girl and West Side Story.

Show creator Thomas J. Egan said “We really are just five mates from Australia doing what we love and sharing it with our audience.”

Jordan Pollard, creator, said “The Rat Pack were genuine pals on and off stage. So too are The Tap Pack and I think audiences may be able to feel the friendships on stage and know that they are seeing great mates who love what they do! You can definitely feel the mischief on stage – every night is a little bit different and we encourage everyone to keep it spontaneous. This has got to be the best show I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on!”

The Tap Pack plays at the Peacock Theatre from Tuesday 1 to Saturday 19 May. Tickets are available through the Peacock Theatre website.
