Christie Brinkley, whose image has adorned many a billboard and more than 500 magazine covers, is to make her London stage debut in Chicago this summer.
The multimillionaire model is set to play Roxie Hart at the Cambridge theatre from 11 July until 6 August. She will be joined by Chicago regular Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly. The actresses previously starred opposite each other in the Broadway production of Chicago earlier this year, when Brinkley made her stage debut.
Current Chicago cast members Jonathan Wilkes, James Doherty, Jasna Ivir and R Whitehead will continue in their roles until 27 August, when the long-running Olivier Award-winning musical leaves its current home to make way for the transfer of the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Matilda The Musical.
Fishnetted-musical Chicago has been entertaining London audiences with its sexy satire on celebrity since 1997. During its 13 years in Theatreland, it has starred performers including Ruthie Henshall, Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams, Denise Van Outen, Kelly Osbourne, Jerry Springer and David Hasselhoff.
