Danny Horn, Oliver Hoare, Tom Whitelock and Damien Walsh will really get audiences going when they take over as The Kinks in Olivier Award-winning musical Sunny Afternoon this autumn.
The new quartet joins the acclaimed musical at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 5 October.
Former Emmerdale star Horn replaces Olivier Award winner John Dagleish as The Kinks’ frontman Ray Davies, with Oliver Hoare (Chichester Festival Theatre’s Antony And Cleopatra) replacing George Maguire, who also triumphed at the Oliviers, as Dave Davies.
Sunny Afternoon, which won Best New Musical at the 2015 Olivier Awards with MasterCard, follows the story of the hit British band, from the school days of the Davies brothers to their attempt to conquer the US.
The musical, for which Ray Davies also won the Outstanding Achievement in Music Olivier Award earlier this year, features a host of The Kinks’ hit songs, including Lola, You Really Got Me, Days, Waterloo Sunset and the title track.
When he leaves Sunny Afternoon in October, Dagleish will make the short trip from the Harold Pinter Theatre to the Garrick Theatre, where he will join the casts of Harlequinade and The Winter’s Tale which play in rep as part of the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company season.
