Sunny Afternoon announces UK tour

Published 11 December 2015

Sunny Afternoon, the Olivier Award-winning musical currently playing at London’s Harold Pinter Theatre, will embark on its first ever UK tour in 2016.

Edward Hall’s critically acclaimed production, which has been bringing The Kinks’ much-loved hits to life in the West End since October 2014, will take to the road from August next year, beginning its tour at the Manchester Opera House.

Featuring a book by Joe Penhall, Sunny Afternoon explores the euphoric highs and agonising lows of The Kinks against the backdrop of a Britain caught between the conservative 50s and riotous 60s.

Charting the story of how the legendary band, led by Ray Davies, exploded on to the music scene, the musical features many of The Kink’s popular numbers including You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola.

Sunny Afternoon started life at the Hampstead Theatre in April 2014 before transferring to its current West End home. It has since won four Olivier Awards, including the prestigious prize for MasterCard Best New Musical, undergone its first major cast change and extended its West End run numerous times.

Tickets for the show’s London run can be booked through us here.
