It’s not everyday that an actor can go to the theatre and watch a production that he himself is starring in, but that’s exactly what David Suchet did on Sunday when he visited the Threesixty theatre in Kensington Gardens to see The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe.
The acting legend, who recorded the voice of Aslan for the family production earlier this year while performing at the Apollo theatre in Eugene O’Neill’s drama Long Day’s Journey Into Night, got to see the legendary lion on stage speaking his very own words.
Talking about his visit, Suchet said: “It’s the strangest experience for me to pick up a ticket at the box office and watch myself perform, even though it may be a lion! I was very thrilled to be part of a wonderful show, it was truly magical and everyone in the audience was held spellbound, both adults and children alike. I particularly congratulate the three artists who operate the Aslan puppet.”
Tickets for the family show are still available through Kids Week, our annual initiative that offers a free child’s ticket for every full priced ticket purchased, while fans of Suchet who would like to see him in the flesh can catch him in O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece at the Apollo theatre until 18 August.
