Storytelling festival Storystock will return to the Bush Theatre this half-term for more family-friendly fun with popular page to stage authors including Michael Morpurgo and Judith Kerr set to take part.
Following the success of last year’s Storystock at the Shepherd’s Bush venue that attracted more than 2,000 visitors over three days, this year’s festival will run from 28 to 30 October and once again features an incredible line-up for children aged three to 11-years-old.
In honour of the popular War Horse author, day one of the festival will be called Michael Morpurgo Day and feature a reading of The Mozart Question from Morpurgo himself, as well as other highlights including a performance of recent theatre hit I Believe In Unicorns.
The festival’s second day will be entitled Big Draw Day and see animation and illustration workshops join Q&As with children’s favourites including The Tiger Who Came To Tea author Kerr and Charlie And Lola’s Lauren Child.
Rounding up the three day event will be Adventure Day. Featuring readings by Jan Blake, a Q&A with Coram Boy’s Jamila Gavin and a performance of The Poetry Joe Show, the colourful day will be made all the more vibrant with a The Day Of The Dead celebration and fancy-dress party.
Speaking about the festival designed for anyone who loves reading, writing or listening to stories, Storystock’s Director Claire Gill commented: “When we launched Storystock at the Bush last year we could never have predicted how much people would love our story events. We sold out in year one and this year we are bringing even more exciting authors to our audience.”
“We are so excited to celebrate the wonderful Michael Morpurgo and honoured that he will be performing The Mozart Question. As well as all the scheduled events, the Bush Theatre will be a story circus crammed with literary scavenger hunts, a book shop, storytelling and your favourite book characters like Kipper, Elmer, a Mad Hatter and many more.”
