Stella Gonet will return to the London stage later this month when she leads the cast of Will Mortimer’s university comedy Further Education at the Hampstead Theatre.
The former The House Of Eliot star will play Charlotte, a mature student who’s acing her classes but whose past is a mystery to her fellow undergraduates, in Mortimer’s debut play which runs at the Hampstead Downstairs from 30 October.
Gonet is joined in the new production by Issy van Randwyck, who returns to the Hampstead Theatre for the first time since 2013’s Raving, and Oliver Hembrough, who was last at the Swiss Cottage venue in Seminar.
Former Harry Potter star Isabella Laughland and recent London College of Music graduate Makir Ahmed complete the cast.
Further Education, which is joined in the autumn/winter Downstairs season by festive comedy Pines, will hope to follow in the fortunes of recent Hampstead Downstairs shows Four Minutes Twelve Seconds and The Wasp, which have both secured transfers to the West End’s Trafalgar Studios.
Current Hampstead Main Stage production Mr Foote’s Other Leg, which ends its run this weekend, will also transfer to the West End. It plays at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 28 October.
