West End leading lady Julie Atherton, X Factor finalist and Blood Brothers star Niki Evans, and singer/songwriter Laura Mvula will all perform as part of a concert to be staged in memory of murdered schoolgirl Alice Gross.
A Concert For Alice, which will also feature performances by Britain’s Got Talent stars Escala, street dance company ZooNation and X Factor’s Lloyd Daniels, will be held at the Ambassadors Theatre on 21 July.
Funds raised by the concert, which is staged by Forecast Academy, the performing arts school Gross used to attend, will go to Alice’s Youth Music Memorial Fund. The fund was set up by Gross’ family following her death. It contributes to the work of the National Foundation for Youth Music, which offers life-changing musical opportunities to children and young people facing significant challenges in their lives.
The concert will also feature current members of the Forecast Academy, appearing alongside professional performers.
Speaking about the concert, Ros Hodgkiss, Gross’ mother, said: “We are delighted that Forecast has decided to stage A Concert For Alice in support of Alice’s Youth Music Memorial Fund and in honour of our beloved daughter. We are extremely grateful to all the professional performers and backstage staff who have offered to contribute their talent and skills to make the evening a success.
“She would have loved this concert and the chance to participate in a similar event had she lived. We are sending good wishes and good luck to all the performers. You will make this evening a very special night and, by supporting Alice’s Youth Music Memorial Fund, transform many young lives for the better.”
Gross disappeared in the late summer of 2014. The 14-year-old’s body was found in the River Brent a month later.
