Stephen Sondheim’s Marry Me A Little will return to London 17 years after it premiered at the Bridewell Theatre when it runs at the St James Studio this summer.
Playing between 29 July and 10 August, the two-hander is a tale of single strangers separated by just a floor of their apartment building. They pass their lonely Saturday night indulging in unshared fantasies in this story of love, loneliness and surviving as a modern singleton.
The show, which was created by Craig Lucas and Norman René, features a collection of the great American composer’s songs that were written early in his career or intended for other musicals but didn’t make it into the final show.
While Marry Me A Little plays in the St James’ intimate Studio, the Theatre host the transfer of Orange Tree Theatre hit Invincible, Torben Betts’ dark comedy of class and culture, politics and pets. Directed by Ellie Jones it runs from 10 July to 9 August.
