Quirky cabaret show La Soirée has announced its shoulder-dislocating, table-leg-swallowing, hula-hooping style of entertainment is to remain in London for an extra month. The show, playing in a specially constructed big top on the South Bank, will now close on 27 February.
La Soirée, which had been due to close at the end of January after its limited seasonal run, is an eclectic medley of comedy, acrobatics, clowning and extraordinary physical feats. The line-up of acts includes sword-swallowing Miss Behave, Scandinavian contortionist Captain Frodo, Canadian clown Mooky, acrobats The English Gents and David O’Mer, whose unusual act has given him the nickname Bath Boy. Several guest artists are also due to perform during the show’s run.
Many of the artists in La Soirée became known after performing as part of La Clique, the cabaret show that enjoyed a successful run at London’s Hippodrome in 2008, winning a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment.
The show’s run also includes special performances on New Year’s Eve and its final night, 27 February.
