Amid the doom and gloom of the recession, comedian Frank Skinner has made it his mission to bring a smile to theategoers’ faces by hosting a Monday night cabaret show with a pocket pleasing price.
Frank Skinner’s Credit Crunch Cabaret, which will run for five successive Mondays in February and March, will see the brummie comedian compère an evening of entertainment blending the hottest comedy performers with West End stars and music acts, all for just £10.
Among the stars already confirmed to appear in the series of five shows are original reality TV musical star Connie Fisher, comedians Dave Gorman, Richard Herring, Russell Howard, Al Murray and We Are Klang, TV presenter Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and musicians Ian Broudie (The Lightning Seeds) and Hugh Cornwell (The Stranglers).
All the acts appearing in the show agreed to take a fraction of their usual fee in an attempt to provide an incredibly cheap ticket price amid the nation’s current economic fear.
While Frank Skinner’s Credit Crunch Cabaret plays on Mondays at the Lyric theatre, the rest of the week sees the Shaftesbury Avenue venue host Michael Jackson tribute spectacular Thriller Live, which opened earlier this week to an audience including Michael’s sibling Tito.
