So everybody just keeps talking about Jamie… but it keeps giving us reasons to. The Olivier Award-nominated show is still bringing joy to all its viewers thanks to its incredible songs, message and performances. And today, it’s been announced that a new cast member will be joining the celebration that is Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
Joining John McCrea, Josie Walker, and the rest of the cast is TV’s Shobna Gulati. Shobna will be taking on the role of Ray from Monday 7 May 2018. She is famed for playing Sunita Alahan in ITV’s Coronation Street and Anita in Dinnerladies. But she’s no stranger of the stage, either. Her theatre credits include: Daisy Pulls It Off (The Park) and Mamma Mia! (international tour).
About joining Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Shobna says: “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is a wonderful show; it’s truly warm, infectious for the soul and incredibly uplifting. The entire cast and team are so gifted and such energetic storytellers who give us a universal tale for right now. The show is full of the rich diversity that makes my heart sing and what makes Britain great! This musical celebrates life! This incredible production and ensemble is one I am so proud and so pleased to become a part of.”
We can’t wait to see what Shobna brings to the musical about a 16-year-old boy from Sheffield who’s got a big secret and even bigger dreams.
After a knock-out run at the Sheffield Crucible in 2017, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie transferred to the West End. The heartwarming story – based on true events – of love and acceptance was nominated for five Olivier Awards. The show is directed by Jonathan Butterell, with catchy new songs from Dan Gillespie Sells, lead singer-songwriter of The Feeling, and writer Tom MacRae.
