Off Broadway hit musical See What I Wanna See will receive its London premiere this autumn when it plays at the Jermyn Street Theatre from 8 September.
Michael John LaChiusa’s musical, which received nine Drama Desk Award nominations when it opened at New York’s Public Theatre in 2005, is based on three short stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa and delves into the nature of truth and how it is changed by perspective.
Greed, murder, faith and redemption weave through the stories of lovers in medieval Japan attempting to escape a doomed relationship, a priest questioning his faith and a 1950s New York murder.
Casting for See What I Wanna See’s London premiere is yet to be announced. The production will be directed by Adam Lenson, who is also directing the 20th anniversary production of Songs For A New World that will run at the St James Theatre this summer.
See What I Wanna See is the latest musical to be produced by Aria Entertainment, which is also bringing The Who’s Tommy and The Adventures Of Pinocchio to Greenwich Theatre this summer, and is currently staging the world premiere of The House Of Mirrors & Hearts at the Arcola Theatre.
