Shakespeare’s Globe’s Education department is offering free tickets to two performances of a special production of Macbeth on 5 and 6 March.
This production of the Bard’s macabre thriller has been created especially for young people studying Shakespeare at Key Stage 3. Some 14,000 students will receive free tickets across nine performances at the Bankside venue next month, while free web resources will be available to schools around the UK.
Thanks to sponsorship from Deutsche Bank, the final two performances, on 5 March at 19:00 and 6 March at 14:00, are open to the general public. Free tickets can be booked from 22 February by calling the box office on 020 7401 9919.
This year’s event follows the success of Globe Education’s 2009 production of Romeo And Juliet, which also made free tickets available to the general public.
A second production of Macbeth runs in the Globe’s main season from 23 April to 27 June. Entitled Kings and Rogues, the season also includes new productions of Henry VIII and Henry IV Part 1 and 2, a revival of 2008’s The Merry Wives Of Windsor, and new plays by Howard Brenton and Nell Leyshon.
