A dance show set to the back catalogue of The Rolling Stones comes to the Apollo this summer, from 28 August (press night 29 August) for a limited season until 8 September.
The show, entitled Satisfaction, is created by Danish choreographer and former director of English National Ballet Peter Schaufuss and performed by 25 dancers from his company. Neither ballet nor musical, the show is described as a ‘dancical’ in which a different dance is choreographed to each hit single, telling its own story. Schaufuss describes the new show as “a vibrant and fascinating multimedia experience of dance, music and light which capture the audience”.
Satisfaction’s soundtrack comprises 24 of The Rolling Stones’s hits including Get Off My Cloud, Sympathy For The Devil, Ruby Tuesday, Paint It Black, Wild Horses and (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.
The staging at the Apollo also features caricatures of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Woods by Gerald Scarfe, The Sunday Times cartoonist.
Schaufuss has created 17 productions since establishing The Peter Schaufuss Company in Denmark in 1997 and has previously tackled the back catalogues of The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. He courted controversy in 2005 by creating a ballet about the life of Diana, Princess Of Wales.
