Scarabeus presents first children’s show

Scarabeus Aerial Theatre will present its first ever production created specifically for young people next month when La Tempesta plays a limited run at a site-specific location in north London.

Suitable for children aged between three and seven-years-old, the aerial puppet show, which is based on the French children’s book by Florence Seyvos and Claude Ponti, will play from 8 to 18 August in Queen’s Wood in Highgate.

A collaboration with Little Angel theatre, La Tempesta uses music and puppetry to tell the story of a family trying to make a new beginning after their house and all but a few of their treasured possessions are swept away by a flood.

Performed on two separate stages with the audience seated between them, the production, which marks the Little Angel theatre’s first foray into open air performance, intersperses the world of puppets with that of the life size performers as they swing from the ancient woodland’s treetops.

Billed as a “simple story [that] serves as a magical reminder of what really matters in life”, La Tempesta takes audiences on a captivating adventure to show how a family’s bond can keep them together and how love can help people to survive the very worst storms.
