Sadler’s Wells Wild Card returns in 2017, offering a bespoke evening of works curated by the next generation of dance makers, with Dan Daw in late March.
This edition invites UK-based artist Dan to the Lilian Baylis Studio on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 March 2017.
Alongside other artists, Daw performs On One Condition, a stripped back, affecting solo made in collaboration with Graham Adey, taking audiences on a whirlwind journey through struggle, belonging, comfort, need and home.
Growing up in rural South Australia, Dan Daw first set foot on the stage when he was 12 and has gone on to forge an international career. Now 33, Dan takes time to reflect on the rollercoaster ride that has led him to On One Condition. Drawing on stories from lived experiences, this production asks us to question our own perceptions of ‘normal’ while offering a bare bones, stripped back look at the world we live in.
The Wild Card programme also includes the UK Premiere of Graham Adey and Keren Rosenberg’s Gender F**k[er], and a durational performance pre-show and during the interval in The Kahn space at Sadler’s Wells, which is presented with Hannah Buckley and Lucy Suggate.
Wild Card is the unique initiative providing a glimpse of the rich variety of work that makes up the current dance landscape. Increasingly popular with audiences and artists alike, Wild Card opens the stage to an exciting and adventurous community of dance makers, giving a broad range of artists the unique opportunity to curate their own programmes of dance.
These specially curated evenings feature exploratory approaches to choreography and combine different mediums, broadening audiences’ perspectives on dance made today.
