To accompany its Christmas stay at London’s Roundhouse, the Royal Shakespeare Company is offering theatregoers the chance to see how the company creates its productions through two workshops entitled Shakespeare Unwrapped.
Suitable for anyone aged 12 and older, the workshops are being held in conjunction with the RSC’s productions of Romeo And Juliet (4 December) and King Lear (29 January). Designed as a pre-show experience, Shakespeare Unwrapped offers a glimpse into the rehearsal process of the RSC and the design, directorial and technical choices that bring the final production to life.
Though Romeo And Juliet and King Lear are not specifically aimed at young theatregoers, the RSC’s season does include two productions that are. Hamlet, directed by emerging playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, and The Comedy Of Errors, directed by Told By An Idiot’s Paul Hunter, have been created for children and families and, with tickets at £5 for under 25s, have family-friendly prices to match.
The RSC’s season at the Roundhouse also includes productions of Antony And Cleopatra, The Winter’s Tale, Julius Caesar and As You Like It. A family ticket rate is available for all productions.
