This autumn, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s summer season will be transferring to the Barbican for a special presentation of three plays. 27 actors will perform in productions of As You Like It, The Taming Of The Shrew and Measure For Measure. Each actor will perform in two of the three plays which will open with As You Like It on 26 October.
Kimberley Sykes will be directing As You Like it which will star Lucy Phelps as Rosalind and David Ajao as Orlando. There will be a Chilled Performance of the play on Thursday 5 December which will be the first of its kind at the Barbican.
Justin Audibert will direct The Taming Of The Shrew which will run from 5 November – 18 January. This production will be set in a world in which women hold the power. In a cast where women play roles written as men, and men play roles written as women, Claire Price plays Petruchia and Joseph Arkley plays Katherine.
RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran will be taking the director’s seat for the final production in the repertoire with Measure For Measure. Sandy Grierson will play Angelo, and Antony Byrne will play The Duke, with Lucy Phelps joining in the role of Isabella.
As part of the season, 200 seats per performance will be on offer for £10 or less. Just call the RSC box office on 01789 331111 to find out more.
