A new stage adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island comes to Richmond theatre from 26 February to 1 March.
The new show is created by Birmingham Stage Company, which is known for its stage productions of children’s classics including Tom’s Midnight Garden, The Jungle Book and several Roald Dahl stories.
Treasure Island tells the story of young Jim Hawkins, who discovers a treasure map in The Admiral Benbow Inn and hands it over to Squire Trelawney. Seized with excitement, Trelawney and Jim set sail in search of the island, joined on the ship by a hand-picked crew and the ship’s cook, Long John Silver. But the one-legged Silver has a shocking secret in store, and as they reach their destination, Jim faces the most exciting and dangerous adventure of his life.
Stevenson’s tale has been adapted for the stage by Stuart Paterson. Greg Banks directs a cast that includes Gavin Robertson (Long John Silver), Iain Ridley (Jim), Leo Aitken, Graeme Dalling, Brendan Foster, Nigel Harris, Anthony Houghton, Christopher Llewellyn, Lawrence Stubbings and Matthew Weyland.
Treasure Island is recommended for children aged six and over and their families.
